“To evoke an emotional response from my viewers.”
Hilli Le Roux (Cronje) Art
art Styles
Abstract expressionism, textured art, mixed media, organic use of colour, oil paintings, conceptual art, stretched canvasses, colour fields, spiritual interaction, contemporary art.
“Negative space is also space.”
Hilli’s art is mainly based on traditional media and techniques such as stretched canvas and oak wood frames, using brushes and oil paint. She has a keen interest in creating texture and subtle shading.
“As you teach, you learn.”
She takes fields of colour and breaks it up in a variety of textures in a layering fashion. Hilli’s work often shows an inverted layering by stripping areas of layered paint to expose raw underpainting to contrast with the carefully planned finished effect.
“To evoke an emotional response from my viewers.”
Her technical knowledge comes through in her use of varied media, which she combines with pure oil paint, Turpentine and raw Linseed oil.
“My years of doing this have taught me some of the most valuable training I could have asked for”
She uses her interest in Chemistry and the interactions of various substrates, tints and tinctures to create nuances of colour and pattern.
“The pulse of Africa”
The tools that she uses vary from specialy selected organic material that she makes into usable applicators of paint, also using standard brushes, old hardened brushes, palette knives, limited medical tools such as syringes and spatulas. Scrapers, spritzers, squeezies, rags, rollers and paper are also used to create her desired end results.
